It has been fifteen years since the original animation came out. Does this warrant a live-action remake? Especially one that follows the plot beat-to-beat?

This new independent horror film is more than it lets on. Uniting a heartbreaking family drama with frightening supernatural elements. 

A horror-comedy with over-the-top acting, gruesome death scenes, as well as an unconventional format of storytelling. It is not the horror one expects to obtain.
