Scharfman's directorial debut can feel a little clunky at times. While the fantasy aspects mix well with the bloody horror and dark comedy. The story was too predictable. The satirical commentary is clever, though too on the nose. The cinematography is good, the colour palette vibrant, while the tone is dark, though balanced. The music mixes fantasy and horror well, sounding otherworldly. Death of a Unicorn earns is decent.

While not as good as the first one, The Accountant 2 is still a solid sequel. Would I have wished for a few more puzzles to figure out? Sure, but the change in tone also made it unique, without feeling like a rehash of the 2016 one. The brotherly dynamic in the story was the best part, with Affleck and Bernthal having great chemistry. The humour was at times misplaced, but the jokes always landed. The action, while conventional, gave the whole plot a good sense of urgency.

The sequel no one asked for, to a sub-par clone of the classic crime flick Heat, is finally out. More guns, more stakes, a bigger price, & no one who cares about it. Pantera tries to be more of a heist film than an action flick, but it has awkward pacing, dull surveillance scenes, and is empty of any tension. A sequel that has no reason to exist.

Mismatched cousins David plus Benji reunite after a longer period, for a tour through Poland, in honour of their late grandmother. When things don’t go as planned, old animosities resurface against the backdrop of their tragic family history. Jesse Eisenberg’s second directorial release is a heart-wrenching dramedy, deserving of all the praise.

Eggers returned to the world of fantasy horror to direct a remake of this long-time passion project of his: A haunted young woman is stalked by a creature of the night, infatuated with her. As he creeps closer, he leaves a trail of deadly horror in his wake. A classic gothic fantasy tale, told in a modern light, for a new audience. A jaw-dropping, beautiful-looking horror tale!
