Flipping the Avengers plot and adding a good share of melancholy, this new entry in the MCU re-prioritises character development over mindless spectacle. While not as good as the first one, The Accountant 2 is still a solid sequel. Would I have wished for a few more puzzles to figure out? Sure, but the change in tone also made it unique, without feeling like a rehash of the 2016 one. The brotherly dynamic in the story was the best part, with Affleck and Bernthal having great chemistry. The humour was at times misplaced, but the jokes always landed. The action, while conventional, gave the whole plot a good sense of urgency.
